Abstract
Voice communication has today become an important and an integral part of human kind. Today the speed and the quality of communication is very crucial. Speech quality has always been degraded due to end user devices. This kind of a problem can be tackled effectively when efficient devices and algorithms are used to cancel the echo which is introduced into the channel. With the advent of sophisticated technology low cost loudspeakers and power amplifiers have been devised which bring in non-linearity into the communication channel. These cheap loudspeakers bring in such non-linearity that it can't be cancelled by conventional linear acoustic cancellation techniques. In this paper we try to devise a solution for the cancellation of the non-linear echo to restore the speech quality in a communication channel. The proposed algorithm very efficiently deals with the non-linear acoustic echo cancellation as it has a moderately low computational complexity and fast convergence. The whole echo cancellation process starts with a linear echo cancellation process where an adaptive algorithm is used to update the weights of the adaptation process. Then the HDNRES comes into action and suppresses the remnant echo in the communication channel after passing through the linear AEC.
