Abstract

Based on a polynomial operator approach a new structure for two-dimensional (2-D) digital filters is derived. This is a sparse structure and has the degrees of freedom to reduce the roundoff noise gain. A numerical example is given, which shows that the optimised structure can even surpass the classical optimal roundoff noise realisation.
