Abstract

A mathematical model of the transient free-surface model of unsteady ship motions is discussed. In this paper, the two reliable wavelet methods are proposed for the numerical solutions of the transient free-surface model. Mathematical derivations show that in fact the horizontal and vertical derivatives can be expressed by TFSGF. Additionally, the wavelet-based computational methods have been applied to solve the radiation problem of a floating hemisphere at zero speed. The approximation results of hydrodynamic coefficients show good agreement with the analytical solutions. Some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the proposed method.
