Abstract

AbstractThe working principle, process flow, treatment effect, and application scope of ammonia nitrogen removal by membrane separation were investigated. The effects of initial ammonia nitrogen concentration, pH value, and flow rate of raw water on mass transfer coefficient and removal rate of ammonia nitrogen in the membrane separation process were evaluated, and the optimal operating conditions of membrane separation were assessed. In addition, several kinds of representative wastewaters were treated. Under the optimal operating conditions, the ammonia nitrogen removal rate can reach more than 99 % and the specific surface area can be up to 3000 m2m−3.
