Abstract

Preparation of magnetic sponge like iron oxide/carbonaceous aerogel composites (Fe3O4/CA) by using crude biomass via well-established hydrothermal method followed by freeze drying process and test the adsorption efficiency of complexes are presented in this work. The isotherm parameters and adsorption kinetics were studied, the obtained results fit into the Freundlich-isotherm and pseudo-second order reaction kinetic model. The adsorption ability of the CA, Fe3O4/CA (95%) and Fe3O4 were 43.94 mg/g, 185.89 mg/g, and 33.37 mg/g, respectively. The high performance adsorption capacity and recyclability of the Fe3O4/CA adsorbent is due to a surface hydroxyl group, micro and mesoporous with high surface area present in the adsorbent. More importantly, Fe3O4/CA nanocomposites aerogel as a cheap material, recyclable and efficient adsorbent for remove the toxic dyes, the corresponding synthetic approach used to multiple application for the field of energy storage, synthesis of composite material would be economically and technically feasible.
