Abstract

The adsorption of organic dyes by sorbents is one of the effective ways to resolve the problem of dye wastewater treatment. However, the limited adsorption capacity of adsorbents has always been a crucial factor that plagues the development and utilization of adsorbents. Herein, aiming at efficient adsorption for crystal violet (CV), polyacrylic acid (PAA) was incorporated into zeolitic imidazoline frameworks (ZIF-67) through an easy and environmentally friendly aqueous phase synthesis process at room temperature to synthesize adsorbent ZIF-67-PAA. Compared to pure ZIF-67, the obtained adsorbent ZIF-67-PAA showed excellent adsorption performance and the maximum adsorption capacity of CV can reach 1606 mg g−1. The adsorption process is spontaneous and conformed to the Langmuir isotherm model and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The results show that the prepared ZIF-67-PAA is a potential and efficient adsorbent for CV removal.
