Abstract

In this work, copper ferrite binary oxide was fabricated on Ni foam substrate by a facile one-step electrodeposition method to remove arsenic from aqueous solution. The morphology and composition of the copper ferrite binary oxide foam (CuFeOx foam) were characterized. The influences of solution pH, temperature, contact time, and initial concentrations on the adsorption behavior of As(III) and As(V) on CuFeOx foam were studied. Results showed that CuFeOx foam is an efficient adsorbent for arsenic. The maximum adsorption capacities for As(III) and As(V) are 140.48 and 175.81 mg g−1, respectively. Adsorption isotherms study demonstrates that the adsorption of arsenic on CuFeOx foam can be described by Langmuir model. Moreover, regeneration experiment indicates that the CuFeOx foam reveals good recyclability owing to the foam structure.
