Abstract

An efficient reciprocity-based hybrid approach is proposed to analyze the radiated susceptibility problems of external incident electromagnetic interference coupling to multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs) through board edges. The proposed approach constructs a multiport Thevenin equivalent circuit that includes the coupling of an external incident plane wave to a multilayer PCB, concatenates the circuit devices mounted on the PCB to the equivalent circuit, and then solves the induced voltages or currents across the circuit devices. Both numerical simulation and experimental verification are carried out to validate the proposed approach, and good agreement between them is observed. The proposed approach is computationally efficient, especially for the parameter analysis. Moreover, it can also be applied to analyze the multilayer PCBs with linear or nonlinear circuit devices.
