Abstract

In order to reach the maximum system capacity in multipath fading wireless CDMA network with heterogeneous QoS traffic, at physical layer not only the prediction of the future state of the wireless channel should be predicted but also the effective transmission power should be achieved. Based on a cross layer model which allows the utilization of information derived from the physical layer, an efficient cross layer packet scheduling (CLPS) in wireless CDMA networks is proposed. The proposed scheme is based on the received power-strength, delay sensitivity and predicted bit error rate (BER) as QoS requirements of every user. The simulation results show that our proposed scheme can provide a significant improvement in average packet delay, channel utilization and packet error rate, i.e., significantly increasing the number of users that can be supported with the desired QoS.
