Abstract
Efficient diode-pumped continuous-wave Yb:CaF<sub>2</sub> laser was demonstrated with multi-watt output power at room temperature. The laser produced up to 9.6 W of output power in the fundamental mode with 64% of optical-to-optical efficiency and up to 71% slope efficiency with respect to the absorbed pump power. Wavelength tuning range was measured to be 60 nm (1011-1071 nm). To the best of our knowledge these are the highest efficiency factors for directly diode-pumped Yb:CaF<sub>2</sub> lasers.
