Abstract

The author presents general formulae and two computer ray-tracing programs to simplify design of threshold Čerenkov detectors. It is assumed that directional light is reflected from curved mirrors into photubes or into additional conical reflectors which act as high transmission lenses. Given a mirror shape, the programs find position of the off-axis “focus” and optimum shape of secondary reflector.
