Abstract

AbstractAn efficient method is presented to analyze electromagnetic scattering of large‐scale objects in a stratified medium. The method introduces an inhomogeneous absorbing boundary condition (ABC) to truncate an infinite stratified medium for the finite‐element analysis. It then adopts the dual‐primal finite‐element tearing and interconnecting (FETI‐DP) algorithm with distributed computing to enable and speed up large‐scale simulations on a computer cluster. Finally, the method utilizes the reciprocity theorem to simplify scattered field calculation and employs the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) to improve the computational efficiency. Three verification examples are presented to demonstrate the solution accuracy of the proposed method, followed by an electrically large example to demonstrate the capability of the method for large‐scale electromagnetic modeling of objects in a stratified medium.
