Abstract

Currently, only a limited number of tumor markers for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are available, and NSCLC heterogeneity makes the identification of a single sensitive and specific marker unlikely. Antibodies to tumor-associated proteins may expand the number of available tumor markers for lung cancer, and may be used together in a serum profile to enhance sensitivity and specificity. Using biopan enrichment techniques with serum from NSCLC patients and healthy individuals, we isolated 57 phage-expressed proteins from two NSCLC complementary DNA T-7 phage libraries, with 45 of these having a sequence identity with known or putative tumor-associated proteins.
