Abstract

The unique nanoflakes/nanorods heterostructure of MoS2/Ti-Fe2O3 was designed to boost the photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance of Fe2O3 nanorods through Ti doping and MoS2 nanoflake coating. The MoS2/Ti-Fe2O3 heterostructure photoelectrode exhibited significantly improved PEC performance, with a photocurrent density 15-fold higher than that of the Fe2O3 photoelectrode. Along with the concordance of band gap and band edge levels between Fe2O3 and MoS2, the enhanced PEC performance can be explained by the efficient charge separation and transfer in the MoS2/Ti-Fe2O3 heterostructure. These results offer new opportunities for Fe2O3-based nanostructures in constructing high-performance solar energy-driven devices.
