Abstract

AbstractA number of novel azo xanthene dyes were prepared via a convenient and rapid cyclocondensation reaction of 3,4‐methylenedioxyphenol with pre‐synthesized (E)‐1,2‐diphenyl‐1‐diazenes in the molar ratio of 2 : 1. The synthesis was carried out in the presence of Fe3O4@TiO2 composite nanoparticles in aqueous ethanol solution at room temperature. This method offers several benefits such as simple experimental work‐up procedure, maximum eco‐friendly manner, short reaction time, and especially high yields of products. The synthesized dyes were investigated for their antibacterial activity and very good results were obtained.
