Abstract

This study reports a novel surface modification of polyurethane sponge (PUS) with acylated graphene oxide (AGO), yielding a versatile sorbent material (AGO@PUS) for the efficient extraction of sulfonamide residues from milk samples. The AGO@PUS combines the extractive properties of AGO with the advantages of PUS, enabling easy, fast, cost-effective, and efficient sample preparation. The material was characterized using FTIR, SEM, XRD and the extraction protocol was optimized for the determination of three sulfonamides (SGD, SDS, and SDZ) by HPLC-UV. The proposed method exhibited excellent linearity (0.01–1000 µg mL−1), low limits of detection (0.04–0.06 µg mL−1) and quantification (0.13–0.21 µg mL−1), and high coefficients of determination (R2 = 0.993–0.997). The maximum recovery rate reached 99.63 %, demonstrating the exceptional sorption capacity of AGO@PUS. Notably, the clear extracts obtained with this material highlight its potential for efficient sample preparation and analysis.
