Abstract

An efficient solver based on volume-surface integral equation is proposed for the electromagnetic (EM) scattering of inhomogeneous medium targets with uncertain geometrical shapes and dielectric constants. On the one hand, the nonuniform ration B-spline surfaces can be used to constructed the uncertain geometrical shapes with a number of geometrical variables. On the other hand, the uncertain dielectric constant can also be derived as the permittivity variables. Then these random variables can be expanded by the first-order Taylor series, which represent the uncertain geometrical shapes and dielectric constant. At last, the mean and variance of the radar cross section (RCS) are acquired for the uncertain inhomogeneous medium targets. The numerical results can be compared with the traditional Monte Carlo (MC) method, which can indicate the accuracy and effectiveness of the method in this letter.
