Abstract

This paper presents a low complexity, fast convergence new algorithm for updating the coefficients of time domain equalizer (TEQ) to shorten the effective channel. This algorithm is blind adaptive which exploits the presence of the FFT property, the orthogonality between adjacent subcarrier, in multicarrier modulation systems. Based on this property, a new cost function is defined and simulation results are provided for asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) channel to confirm the ability to achieve the shortening of the effective channel. The minimization of the cost function used in the adaptive algorithm is confirmed by finding the correlation coefficients of the adjacent subcarriers.
