Abstract

We study a novel method to modify carbon nanotubes (CNT) surfaces using hydrogen and develop a composite with epoxy resin. This method is effective for functionalization of CNT surfaces and for chemical and physical interactions with other materials. The C = C/C–C ratio increased until 20 min and decreased thereafter. In addition, the C–O peak decreased until 20 min and increased after 20 min. This indicates that the CNT surface was transferred with H. SEM observation revealed that excellent interfacial bonding is achieved between CNTs and epoxy resin. It affected the mechanical properties to CNT/Epoxy nanocomposite.
