Abstract
For the analysis of cascades structures, the Method of Lines (MoL) with discretization lines in propagation direction is a versatile tool. However, the rigorous full wave analysis of complex circuits affords a fine discretization mesh, which results in a large eigenmode spectrum. The modal complexity can be significantly reduced by using the concept of localized and accessible modes. Incorporating this concept into the MoL-algorithm leads to an efficiency enhancement and a strong reduction of the computation time. This will be demonstrated for a cascaded microstrip hairpin filter, where the results of the new algorithm compare excellently to the unmodified one and to measured results.
