Abstract

This paper presents an idea of combining the Alamouti code with spatial modulation (SM) scheme. A SM scheme often used for secrecy enhancing means by virtue of its dynamic antenna selection behavior. The proposed method in this paper enhances the secrecy by using artificial noise (AN) which can only be canceled at the legitimate receiver. In addition, the performance is enhanced by combining it with the Alamouti coding scheme. On the other hand, illegal listener cannot retrieve any information due to the interference caused by the AN. The simulation results demonstrated in this paper reveal that the proposed Alamouti-coded scheme shows highly enhanced bit error rate (BER) performance at the legitimate receiver, compared to the conventional scheme. The performance comparison in terms of the effective bit rate shows that the proposed scheme is superior to the conventional scheme at the same BER performance.
