Abstract

Reconfigurable circuit is widely adopted in inductive power transfer (IPT) to achieve efficiency optimization. However, traditional methods usually utilize load-resistance-based (LRB) efficiency model in illustrating the system, while this model may be difficult to analyze the efficiency and power since the load resistance varies with the power and the topology. In order to meet the power requirement and optimize efficiency, multiple-tap coils (MTCs) are investigated for reconfigurable IPT system for reefer container in this paper. A new method is proposed based on the load-power-based (LPB) efficiency model with which the requirement of power regulation is satisfied automatically. The experimental results show that with the proposed method, the system efficiency is 92.7% (@6.6kW 40cm) with an improvement by 2.9% at least, compared with the system efficiencies of the system without optimization.
