Abstract

1. The effect which mixing of the liquid on a bubbler plate has on the number of plates required for a given separation and on the plate efficiency coefficient of the column has been studied. 2. The concept of the plate efficiency coefficient of the column is introduced as the ratio of the number of theoretical plates (E = 1) to the number of actual plates (E < 1) with an identical number of completely mixed sections. 3. A program for computations on a digital electronic BESM-2 computer has been written; this program enables us to calculate the number of theoretical and actual plates in a column for various degrees of liquid mixing on the plate.
