Abstract

Abstract So far, there is no formula to calculate the submersible mixer efficiency. The submersible mixer losses were analyzed. Following the power definition and conservation of momentum, the efficiency formula of submersible mixer was deduced. We get the below relationship: the efficiency is proportional to 3 / 2 power of the water thrust, and inversely proportional to the product of impeller diameter and shaft power of the submersible mixer. In combination with engineering practice, the submersible mixer was simulated. Results show that the fluid density, impeller setting angle, submersible mixer installation angle, and rotate speed have influence on efficiency of submersible mixer. The efficiency formula would guide the design and application of submersible mixer, and will save energy.
