Efficiency and Effectiveness of Union Information Service Center: A Study on Sylhet Sadar Upazila

Abstract

Union Information and Service Centers (UISCs) are set up by the government across the country ushered in a new hope for helping the rural people to develop their life and livelihood through providing information and services. UISC’s are mainly provides information’s related to different sectors like: agriculture, governmental functions, health, education etc. by using e-Technologies. It works for saving the time, cost and hassles of rural area’s people. So the patterns of e-Governance in the remote area should be changed positively and it is also essential for the development of our countries development. The status of UISC’s in rural in unions are identified in this study by surveying on the 3 UISC’s, Sylhet Sadar Upazila. Mixed research methodology used here. The final part of the study identified that there have not sufficient application of e-Governance related technologies and services in this union. Most of the people are not known about the UISC and its services. There have not sufficient equipments and entrepreneurs in this union centre. So, the actual goals and purposes are not fulfilled. For this the patterns of e- Governance in this union are remain in a point. The initiative nature of the study may assist the entire body of the 3 UISC’s as well as all the unions of Bangladesh to learn about the prospects and status from the findings of the study. Full activation of UISC is needed to ensure e-Governance in remote areas.
