Abstract

Introduction: The use of IV Propofol as a sedation agent for upper GI foreign body removal in selective pediatric patients in ambulatory settings is safe and efficient. The purpose of this study was to compare the efficiency as well as the cost benefit of propofol sedation for these patients in ambulatory settings vs general anesthesia in OR settings. Methods: A retrospective cohort of 74 children who underwent endoscopic removal of radiographically confirmed upper GI foreign bodies was reviewed.
