Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of ultrasound guided drug injection into shoulder joint cavity and pain point in the treatment of patients with obstinate scapulohumeral periarthritis. Methods Thirty-eight patients with obstinate scapulohumeral periarthritis were received the treatment of drug injection into shoulder joint cavity and pain point under ultrasound guidance. All patients were followed up for 1 year, and the curative effect was observed. Results The range of antexion, abduction and extorsion of the shoulder joint movement (145°±11°, 92°±10°, 49°±17°) at one month after the treatment was wider than that (85°±13°, 45°±9°, 9°±4°) before the treatment, and VAS was lower (6.9±1.4 vs 2.6±1.2) , with significant difference (P<0.05) . 11 cases showed calcification in shoulder joint cavity by ultrasound and 7 cases hydrarthrosis before the treatment, in which 5 cases calcification disappeared, 5 cases shrank, 1 case unchanged; and 3 cases hydrarthrosis disappeared, 3 cases decreased and 1 case unchanged at one year after the treatment. 12 cases were excellent effect at one year after the treatment, 9 cases good effect, 4 cases effective, 3 cases bad effect. The total effective rate was 92.1%. Conclusion Ultrasound guided drug injection into shoulder joint cavity and pain point is an effective method in the treatment of obstinate scapulohumeral periarthritis.
