Abstract

Maxillofacial injuries make up to 48 of all forms of injuries of which road traffic accidents and assaults contribute to 34. In which 52.5 are mandibular fractures. Tumors cysts osteomyelitis injuries post traumatic defects and multiple surgeries in maxillofacial region can lead to extensive bone loss. These large bony defects can result in soft tissue herniation into the defect affecting the facial contour. Due to functional and esthetic reasons large defects on the face should be reconstructed to preserve the facial contour. True dentofacial deformities of the midface in persons who have retrusive protmsive hypoplastic hyperplastic short face and long face without cranial vault deformities can be surgically corrected. The treatment of complex cases such as fractures of highly atrophic edentulous mandibles discontinuity defects and comminuted fractures with the use of mini plates is often difficult and unsatisfactory. Hence in such cases Titanium mesh has been successfully used.nbsp
