Abstract

The efficacy of the nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV) of the alfalfa looper, Autographa Californica (Speyer), was tested against larvae of the cabbage looper, Trichoplusia ni (Hubner), on cabbage in Missouri. The viral and chemical insecticides were equally effective and provided crop protection that was significantly greater than no treatment. The NPV virus is an efficient control agent and is potentially useful for cabbage looper management programs.
