Abstract

Purpose: Inadequate sleep is a significant problem for adolescents. Evening-types are at greatest risk for negative consequences, including poor sleep quality and depressed mood. Empowering teens to advance their own bedtimes was achieved in a pilot study of peer-delivered sleep hygiene education. This experiment evaluated the program's effect on sleep hygiene, sleep quality and mood in evening-type adolescents and examined relationships among these variables.
