Abstract

Produce 2 validated pediatric obesity risk assessment tools for low-literacy clients. Longitudinal data collection includes diet, PA, TV and sleep log, serum, anthropometrics, and meal time observation. Parent-child pairs (n=213) have been enrolled with phases 1(n=141) and 2(n=132) complete. Phase 3(n=29) is underway and the final phase will commence early 2013. Sub-samples participated in a behavioral intervention (n=38) and mealtime videotaping (n=60). Baseline data indicates 97% of children had at least one undesirable lipid panel value and 24% had a BMI for age >85th percentile. Preliminary analysis (n=40) reveal significant associations between measures of parenting with diet quality.
