Abstract

SUMMARY Novastat was efficacious against Eimeria tenella infections initiated by 7 of 12 drug-resistant strains and by a strain not previously exposed to drugs. The latter developed a tolerance to Novastat when propagated serially through chickens initially fed mash containing suboptimal levels of the coccidiostat. The Novastat-resistant strain was cross-resistant to 5 of 15 other coccidiostats tested against it.
