Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of 23 G minimally invasive incision vitrectomy for extirpation of anterior uveal tumor. Methods The data of 4 eyes of 4 patients with anterior uveal tumor from Jun. 2014 to Jul. 2016 were analyzed retrospectively. The tumor were extirpated with 23 G minimally invasive vitrectomy. Results There were 2 cases with ciliary body tumors and 2 cases with ciliary choroidal tumors. Histopathological examination: 2 cases of adenoma of the non-pigmented ciliary epithelium, 1 case of schwannomas and 1 case of neurofibroma. After 6 to 18 months of follow-up, the best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of all patients was significantly better than that before surgery(P<0.05), and there was no tumor recurrence. Conclusion The extirpation of anterior uveal tumor with 23 G minimally invasive vitrectomy is not only minimally invasive, but also has fewer surgical complications, and the surgery can improve vision, perform pathological examination on the resected tissue, which is a safe and effective surgical method. Key words: Tumor, uveal, anterior; Vitrectomy, minimally invasive
