Abstract
Objective To observe the efficacy of limbal stem cell transplantation combined with Tripterygium wilfordii eye drops for pterygium. Methods Sixty-six eyes of 50 pterygium patients who underwent limbal stem cell transplantation were randomly divided into two groups. Compared with control group, active ingredient of Chinese Tripterygium wilfordii was added in the Tripterygium wilfordii group. Oral Tripterygium wilfordii was prescribed post operatively. The visual acuity, corneal situation, conjunctival hyperemia and recurrence rate were observed, and routine blood test and humoral immunity examination were done, The clinical symptoms and recurrence rate between the two groups before and after treatment were compared. Results The observation parameters of patients in Chinese Tripterygium wilfordii group were better than that in control group (P<0.05). And the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Pterygium surgery combined with Chinese Tripterygium wilfordii application can significantly reduce postoperative responses and recurrence rate.
