Abstract

Over 6 years, the prevalence of latex sensitization fell from 4/15 (26.7%) to 1/22 (4.5%) in children with spina bifida treated in a latex-free environment from birth compared with historic controls. These precautions appear to be efficacious for the primary prevention of latex sensitization. (J Pediatr 2002;140:370-2)
