Abstract

Background: Interferential Current (IFC) stimulator is a new device designed to transcutaneously stimulate swallowing-related sensory nerves(Fig1,2). It has been reported that IFC facilitated the swallowing reflex in healthy subjects, and improved the pharyngeal swallowing function in post-stroke and Parkinson’s disease patients.But, the additive effect of IFC on traditional dysphagia therapy (TDT) alone has not been verified.
