Abstract
This study was executed to measure the efficacy (preference and toxicity) of imidacloprid 3.0%, fipronil 0.05%, and chlorpyrifos 1.0% gel baits for the control of American cockroaches under laboratory conditions. Result revealed that the cockroaches consumed significantly greater amount of fipronil bait than imidacloprid and chlorpyrifos baits. The same bait was detected significantly faster than chlorpyrifos bait. Imidacloprid bait quickly killed the 50% of the tested cockroaches (LT50, 4.64 hours) than fipronil and chlorpyrifos bait. Fipronil bait was detected significantly faster and consumed significantly greater amount than chlorpyrifos. However, chlorpyrifos killed the 50% of tested cockroaches faster than fipronil. Thus, imidacloprid bait was more effective than fipronil and chlorpyrifos baits for the control of American cockroaches under laboratory conditions.
