Abstract

The efficacy of five insecticides, viz., deltamethrin, cypermethrin, indoxacarb, chlorpyriphos and endosulfan at different doses for the management of blister beetle in pigeonpea and mungbean was evaluated in Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana for two consecutive seasons. Mechanical control was also used as one of the treatments to test the efficacy against blister beetle. The application of selected chemicals was found highly effective in reducing the population of blister beetle. The results revealed that deltamethrin @ 14 g ai ha-1 followed by cypermethrin @ 62.50 g ai ha-1 and chlorpyriphos @ 750 g ai ha-1 were most effective among the treatments against Mylabris pustulata. Maximum grain yield of 1397 and 1301 kg ha-1 was obtained in treatment with deltamethrin in pigeonpea and mungbean, respectively, while mechanical control was found to be the least effective against blister beetle in both the pulse crops.
