Abstract

SUMMARY Buquinolate was efficacious against Eimeria tenella infections both by drug-resistant strains and by a strain lacking previous exposure to drugs. The latter developed a tolerance for buquinolate when propagated serially through chickens initially fed mash containing suboptimal levels of the coccidiostat. The buquinolateresistant strain was cross-resistant to decoquinate and to Unistat, but not to eight other coccidiostats.
