Efficacy of ATP Bioluminescence as an Evaluation Method of Endoscopic Disinfection

Abstract

The endoscopy has a higher risk of cross infection and due to its delicate structure and the nature of the material, the cleaning and disinfection process requires careful reprocessing to prevent cross infection. Recently, the ATP bioluminescence has been used to monitor the cleaning management in the medical environment. The ATP bioluminescence, therefore, may have a potential role in monitoring the reprocessing of endoscopes. The purpose of this study is to evaluate efficacy of ATP tracer as the method in the management of the endoscope reprocessing.
