Abstract
Objective To analyze the efficacy of endoscopic mucosal dissection (ESD) on treatment of elderly patients with early gastric cancer and precancerous lesions. Methods A total of 81 elderly patients with early gastric cancer and precancerous lesions in Hebi People’s Hospital from January 2015 to May 2017 were grouped by random number table method, 40 cases in the control group were treated with endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), and 41 cases in the observation group were treated with ESD. The surgical efficacy and safety of the two groups were compared. Results The operation time, hospitalization time and hospitalization cost, the recurrence rate and the incidence of complications in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). The disposable recurrence rate was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions ESD surgery is more suitable for elderly patients, and can effectively reduce the hospitalization time and operation time of elderly patients with early gastric cancer and early cancer, with low hospitalization cost, no recurrence and high safety. Key words: Endoscopic mucosal dissection; Elderly; Early gastric cancer; Precancerous lesion
