Abstract

EFFECT OF DENSITY ON DENDROMETRIC PARAMETERS OF Acacia auriculaeformis INTERCOPPED WITH Cocos nucifera L. ON QUATERNARY SANDS IN COTE D’IVOIRE. The study aims at determining the effect of the legume-coconut intercropping on the growth and wood production of A. auriculaeformis. Two spatial arrangements and 3 spacings were studied on soil from quaternary sand in the coast zone of Cote d'Ivoire. Four years and 4 months after planting, the highest diameters ( 11.24 cm) and the lowest total plant heights ( 7.62 m) were obtained in trees population planted at lower densities. These trees produced the highest wood volumes ( 0.0732 m3). On the other hand, the high densities in tree populations resulted in the highest wood productions ( 19,20 m3.ha-1.an-1). These legume species were can be used to produce firewood, besides the Nfixation abbility and organic matter production.
