Abstract

The effects on the K L a value of hole diameter and the ratio of free cross-sectional area of perforated plates were studied by using a gas-stirred reactor which had five short draft tubes, two of which were covered with perforated plates and the rest were free. Results showed that the superficial gas velocity is the only factor affecting the K L a value, if the following three conditions are satisfied. 1. (1) The superficial gas velocity is higher than 4 Ncm/s. 2. (2) The diameter of each hole in a perforated plate is larger than 5 mm. 3. (3) The free cross-sectional area exceeds 5%.
