Abstract

Y-doped β-Ni(OH)_2 and α-Ni(OH)_2 materials were synthesized, and the influences of Y on the structure, morphology and high-temperature electrochemical characteristics of the two kinds of materials were studied through XRD, TEM, CV, and charging/discharging tests. The results indicated that yttrium improved high-temperature electrochemical performances of β-Ni(OH)_2 and α-Ni(OH)_2 materials by the same mechanism that the charge efficiency was enhanced through the increase of oxygen evolution overpotentials. However, further efforts are still necessary to improve the phase stability of α-Ni(OH)_2 at high temperatures.
