Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of WeChat platform in the follow-up intervention of painless labor. Methods Two hundred pregnant women undergoing painless labor were randomly divided into traditional management group (group T) and WeChat management group (group W), 100 cases in each group. The pregnant women were treated with traditional management method and followed-up in group T, the nurse informed the anesthesiologist whenever the pregnant women suffered from pain problem. The pregnant women were guided to join in the WeChat public service and were educated with knowledge of analgesia before the painless labor in group W. The pregnant women or their family members fed back pain problems via WeChat to the anesthesiologists, then the anesthesiologists dealt with these issues according to the effect of analgesia. Numerical rating scale (NRS), pregnant women satisfaction rate, the pain attention rate of medical staff on pregnant women and the analgesic information feedback rate of pregnant women were compared between the two groups at 30, 60, 90, 120 min post-analgesia. Results NRS was significantly lower in group W at different time points than that in group T (P<0.05). The satisfaction rate of analgesia was 78% in group T, 97% in group W (P<0.05). The pain attention rate of medical staff was 82% in group T, 98% in group W (P<0.05). The analgesic information feedback rate of pregnant women was 25% in group T, 85% in group W (P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with traditional management method, WeChat can improve the quality of analgesia management about painless labor timely and effectively.
