Abstract

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of warming moxibustion on scores of fatigue and life quality in patients with subhealth fatigue status. MethodsOne hundred and twenty patients were randomized into an observation group (60 patients) and a control group (60 patients), the patients in the observation group were subjected to intervention with warming moxibustion using moxa sticks, once a day, while the patients in the control group was orally administered with Buzhong Yiqi Pill (▪), three times a day, and the two groups were continuously treated for two months. Scores for fatigue and life quality of the patients were observed before and after treatments, and follow-ups were carried out for 12 months. ResultsThe scores for fatigue and life quality of the patients in the two groups significantly decreased in comparison to those before treatments, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). The scores for fatigue, body pain (BP), general health (GH), vitality (VT) and mental health (MH) of the patients in the observation group after treatment were significantly improved in comparison to those in the control group (all P<0.05). The scores for fatigue, BP, GH, VT and MH at six and twelve months after the follow-ups were also significantly improved in comparison to those in the control group (all P<0.05). ConclusionWarming moxibustion can significantly improve fatigue symptoms and life quality of the patients in subhealth fatigue status.
