Abstract
ABSTRACT THE effects of both vibration and soil moisture con-tent on the draft of a mole plow was investigated by means of a model. Visual inspection indicated that larger and more extensive cracks appeared on the mole channel when the mole plow was not vibrated. At any soil mois-ture content, the mole channels formed with the vibrated mole plow appeared to be smoother than those formed without vibration. A reduction in draft was obtained when either the soil moisture content or frequency of vi-bration was increased. Effect of vibration frequency on draft was most significant at lower soil moisture con-tents. An equation was derived for relating the draft re-quirement to soil moisture and vibration frequency.
