Abstract
Today, data traffic grows in a more dynamic way than voice traffic and it requires high data rates to support advanced services and applications. Mobile operators must deal with this amount of traffic and must meet user requirements. They must provide more throughput on the transmission path. One of the ways this can be done is to use LTE-Advanced with the carrier aggregation technique. This is one of the most important features in LTE-Advanced because it improves the practical data rates, enhances the network capacity, simplifies the traffic management and extends the coverage area. Tests were made to study the effects that the use of carrier aggregation with three carriers has on the mobile operator's network. Measurements were also made to observe the behavior of two users, that use simultaneously carrier aggregation with three carriers. Tests were done in the Orange Romania Laboratory (Network Operational Skill Center) in the beginning of 2016.
