Abstract

Three experiments involving 3,000 turkey broilers were conducted to evaluate the feasibility of rearing turkey broilers on a heated litterless floor compared with rearing under a conventional brooder with planer shavings over a concrete floor. The results of these experiments provide evidence that it is feasible to use a hot-water-heated floor, with only a sprinkling of litter, for rearing turkey broilers if litter materials are expensive or difficult to obtain.
