Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation combined with moxibustion in treating ovulation disorder in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) . Methods Using the prospective randomized controlled study design, a total of 60 patients who had be diagnosed with PCOS in reproductive medicine department of Hangzhou Red Cross Hospital from September 2015 to September 2016 were selected and randomly divided into observation group (n=30) and control group (n=30) by random number table method. Both groups were treated with clomiphene on the 5th day of menstruation, 50 mg per day for 5 days. Patients in the control group was treated with routine care, while, on the basis of that, the observation group received the application of non-invasive electro-acupuncture combined with moxibustion. Body mass index (BMI) , waist hip ratio (WHR) , ovulation rates and pregnancy rates were compared between the two groups three months after the treatment. Results After treatment, the body weight and BMI of the treatment group decreased significantly (P 0.05) . Conclusions Transcutaneous electrical acupuncture combined with moxibustion can effectively improve the ovulation rate of PCOS patients with ovulation disorder, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
